Nobody likes pain.
Using sharp dental needles to make you numb can be painful…especially in the roof of your mouth. The roof of the mouth or “the palate” is the area behind the upper teeth. When a dentist injects local anesthetic here it is usually reported to be the worst pain ever. “Ouch” “Uhhh” grunting and tears is the norm with this type of dental anesthesia.
I was informed by many female patients that they would rather have an epidural injection than an injection in the roof of the mouth. Palatal anesthesia is usually required for dental procedures such as extractions, periodontal (gum) surgery, bone grafts or dental implants.
Well, it doesn’t have to be painful.
The Palatal Press and Roll is a technique I developed in 2006 in an effort to stop dental pain. The article teaches dentists how to make the “roof of the mouth” numb without pain. It is now being used by many dentists all over the world and my hope is that lots of patients are now much happier :)
