options-for-replacing-missing-teeth-in-geriatrics

According to the US Surgeon General’s report in the year 2000, if you are of the age 50 and older, you are missing, on average, twelve teeth! That’s a lot of teeth!

Missing teeth can lead to indigestion due to poorly chewed food, weight loss, and illness.

Options for replacing missing teeth are as follows:

  1. Do nothing
  2. Replace with removable dentures. There are partial dentures that replace some teeth and complete dentures that replace all teeth.
  3. Fixed bridges. When you have teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth, you may be a candidate for a fixed bridge.
  4. Dental implants. Dental implants may be the ideal option for replacing teeth in the geriatric population. Dental implants feel the most natural of all the options listed here.

We have developed a revolutionary procedure called 3 Minute Implant™. You can have your tooth or teeth replaced all in one day if needed. The dental implant, abutment and crown or fixed bridge can be inserted the same day as tooth removal. If the tooth is already missing, you can most likely still have this procedure completed in 1 day.

There are follow-up visits as needed. For more information about dental implants, feel free to drop us a note.
