Today I ventured out to the local store and researched various types of denture adhesive. I was seeking to discover the cost of denture adhesive over a period of ten years.
Here is how I arrived at the cost calculations. I went to the local pharmacy and looked at the current rates for denture adhesive.
The rates for dentures adhesive ranged from $4.49 (on sale) to $8.99. If the average consumer used 1-2 tubes of denture adhesive per week, then the annual cost for denture adhesive is as follows:
$6.74 per tube x 52 weeks = $ 350 – $ 700 annually
$ 350 – $700 per year x 10 years = $3,500 – $7,000 total
If you do enjoy the fit and feel of your dentures, anchored with denture adhesive, then this is the way to go for you. If not, then you may want to consider throwing away your denture adhesive and investing in two dental implants to fix your denture.
The cost for two dental implants is $6,200. That’s a slightly less investment difference per week, depending on how much adhesive you need to use. That’s a small price to pay for a huge improvement in quality of life and better health.
